Ergo Baby Carrier Sport

The Ergobaby Sport Carrier was introduced to accommodate taller and larger parents and is now one of our best-sellers.

Although designed with Daddy in mind, the Sport can be adjusted to fit women too, making it the ultimate family carrier.

Main differences to the standard Ergo Baby Carrier:

• Made from a smooth blend of 35% cotton and 65% polyester, the lighter, more-breathable fabric helps to keep babywearers more comfortable
  
• The body of the carrier is vented for extra breathability, keeping both baby and parent cooler
  
• The waist belt can extend an additional 5" further than our Standard or Organic carriers (to 48”), and the shoulder straps can extend an extra 4" (to 27”), providing comfortable fit for babywearers of all sizes
  
• The Sleeping Hood is completely detachable and can be stored in the pocket
  
• There is no zipped pocket to the front as it has been replaced with the Velcro closing pocket for the Sleep Hood

Like the Next Generation, the Sport has been designed to carry your baby safely and comfortably, giving you both a lovely feeling of connection and you the ability to get on with everyday tasks whilst remaining close to your baby.

The Ergo is designed for babies from 4 months (around 7kg) up to 4 years (around 18kg). 

The infant insert (sold seperately) is used for newborns up to the age of 4 months to ensure that you are carrying your baby safely and securely in the anatomically correct position.

Carry positions:

The ERGObaby Sport Carrier enables you to carry your child in front, on your back, or on your hip, thus giving you and your child freedom of movement as well as the closeness your child needs.

Newborn:
With the addition of the infant insert, you can carry your newborn from day one in a gentle, secure snuggle position.

Front position:
From around 4 months, you can carry your baby sitting up, facing you.  Babies love to be close to their parent and to receive eye-to-eye contact and sitting in this position makes them feel supported and protected, essential to a baby’s mental and social development.

Back position:
As soon as the neck of your child is strong enough to support the head for any length of time, your child can be carried on your back. When going for a walk, shopping, or every day just at home - your child is by your side, or rather: on your back. This gives you more freedom in everyday life, and at the same time strengthens the vital mother-child-relationship or father-child-relationship.

Hip position:
This position is perfect for the temporary carriage of bigger children since your child can see everything and have close body contact at the same time. Carrying a child on your hip is the most natural way to carry a child and makes the anatomically correct natural sitting position possible.

Health and wellbeing
The ERGObaby Carrier ensures carriage in the anatomically correct natural sitting position. This position avoids bruising the genitalia or straining the baby's spine, which can arise with baby carriers that do not guarantee a anatomically correct natural sitting position. The ERGObaby Carrier is NOT designed for the front position with the baby facing outwards since, in this position, the anatomically correct natural sitting position is not possible and there are additional negative aspects.

How does the Sleep Hood of the Sport model differ from the Standard model one?
Basically, both hoods have the same form and size. The straps of the Sport hood are elastic contrary to the ones of the Standard hood. Moreover, the Sport hood attaches thanks to little hooks on the shoulder straps, and not with press buttons as it does for the Standard hood. The Sport hood is completely removable and attaches to the sleeping hood storage pouch with press buttons which are located inside the pouch. The height of the Sport hood is adjustable thanks to these press buttons, so that it can be used even as your baby grows bigger.

Can it be also used by women?
It can and should be used by women too, as the straps can be tightened and adjusted for comfort.

Is there a weight difference between the Sport and the Standard Carrier?
The Sport carrier weighs 550 g and the standard one 690 g.
