The Baby Shapes book set has been developed by The Children's Project, dedicated to supporting the family and improved outcomes for children.
There is continued debate as to whether or not new babies are able to distinguish colour, but it is agreed that they are drawn to high contrast images.
Mobile
The black and white self assembly mobile (reflecting images from the Baby Shapes books) is 3-dimentional.
Because the images are presented horizontally as well as vertically, the patterns are clearly visible to the newborn baby when lying in its cot, as well as to on-lookers.
When placed within the optimum range of vision - appx 22cm (9ins), it is fascinating for new babies. It is easy to add other shapes or your own designs, so making the mobile more interesting as the baby develops.

Books
These simple books are specially developed to interest a baby from birth. Baby Shapes 1 & 2, use very simple (through to more complex) bold graphic shapes.
Baby Shapes 3 consists of a range of faces and facal expressions. New babies may copy some of the expressions.
Baby Shapes 4 includes more complex images that older babies will find interesting, including 2 pages with mirror finish.
