| ![]() Canada Declares BPA ToxicTuesday, 19 October 2010 Canada has joined a growing list of counties and US states to declare BPA unsafe. As of 13th Oct, Bisphenol A has been added to the Schedule 1 of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, meaning the government can monitor the use of BPA. BPA is an ingredient that is sometimes added to plastics to make it easier for the manufacturer to work with the plastic. Unfortunately, it is not banned in the UK and can still be found in many baby products such as plastic baby bottles. Many studies have shown that BPA may be harmful to humans and especially babies as it interferes with the production of oestrogen in the body. It can affect immune, neurological and reproductive systems. Plastic baby bottles that contain BPA are particularly unsafe as the frequent heating and washing increase the rate of leeching into the milk. At The Natural Nursery, we sell a range of glass baby bottles and baby safe plastic feeding bottles ideal for giving expressed breastmilk to your baby. All our breastpumps and baby feeding equipment such as weaning spoons and baby bowls are BPA free. You will find our range of baby bottles here and baby weaning equipment here.
